It has the same setup as the (MS) Intellimouse Explorer.
The  /etc/X11/xinit.d/mouse_buttons  has  xmodmap -e 'pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5'
.  There are not any $HOME Xmodmap files.
The two side buttons work to page up/down and other buttons work too. It is
just the wheel rotation +/- 'buttons' that die.
