Related problem: Different Wallpapers for Different Workspaces?

Hi:
Something interesting just happened. I ran
/usr/bin/chbg -remember -scenario <path/to/cnfgfile>
and nothing happened. The program chbg _is_ running and I should be
getting pics displayed to/on the root window(works great in XFce3).
I presumed it is because the backdrop mgr is writing to the root window
so I went to turn it off(Settings Manager/Desktop:Backdrop/Background
Settings) and I could not( I know that I could chose not to use xfbd in
XFce3 so I expected the same feature in XFce4. ).
There is not a widget for a "Run program..." either.
Even stranger is that chbg really is writing to the root window. I
know this because I have a 'transparent' aterm running and _its_
background is the image that chbg writes.
This seems like a difficult problem since xfdesktop does other things
for me and I do not want to SIGHUP (/KILL) it.
Is there another way to 'fix' it from the Settings Manager? (or other
way - i tried rm the "Image" file name but that does not work)
Is that something planned only for >4.0 release or can that be fixed
before 4.0.0 with a 'Do not use backdrop manager' checkbox in the
"Backdrop/Background Settings" dialog?
Please. I wanna run XFce4 but also see my Propaganda and Linux Chicks
and ...
TIA

BTW, the problem is that there is only one 'root window' which is
displayed on all workspaces/desktops. However, that can be hacked
'cause Gnome 1.4 ( with Sawfish WM ) allowed it. [ Did XFce xfbd do
that too? (I've been using chbg for so long, i forgot...) ]
