Startup problems with existing backdrop.xml

I updated again from CVS within the past hour, and the result is the same. If I allow a color option to appear in the backdrop.xml file, xfce-mcs-manager hangs.
I'm using SuSE 8.0. Whatever I can do to help resolve this, let me know.
