xfce4 ? lockups?

Welp... it did it again this morning... this time I could ssh into the
machine. It was only X that croaked... the behavior was very much like
the old race conditions I caused in the old xfce3 when switching between
screens.

There was no core file or anything... X was just locked up tight and
would do nothing.
