xfce4 ? lockups?

I do not know what's causing this but I am running xfce4 out of cvs and
twice now I have had X completely sieze up on me... it is completely
killing the machine as there is no network or anything left when it
happens... it is forcing me to do a hard power reset to get the machine
back. I wish there was some sort of diagnostic I could do so that the
problem could be seen but when this happens the machine is simply dead,
dead, dead!
I am running these out of my .xinitrc:
xfce-mcs-manager
xfwm4 --daemon
xfbd4
xfmouse4
xftaskbar4 &
xfce4-panel &
exec xfdeskmenu -button=1
- --
csm
