mcs failing to load plugins

I've just compiled xfce4 modules from current cvs and the
xfce-mcs-manager fails to load several modules, they all fail because
the symbol "mcs_plugin_check_version" can't be found:

/plugins/xfwm4_plugin.so cannot be opened

Any ideas where the missing symbol is?
