Possible xfwm4 bug?

Hi,
I've a strange behaviour since my last debian upgrade:
1. xfce doesn't start with GDK_USE_XFT=1 (or better xfwm4 doesn't start)
2. when I start a program I get thousands of these (in the error log):
frame.c, line 68: entering frameBottom
frame.c, line 112: entering frameHeight
frame.c, line 57: entering frameTop
frame.c, line 68: entering frameBottom
frame.c, line 101: entering frameWidth
frame.c, line 35: entering frameLeft
frame.c, line 46: entering frameRight
frame.c, line 101: entering frameWidth
frame.c, line 35: entering frameLeft
frame.c, line 46: entering frameRight
frame.c, line 57: entering frameTop
frame.c, line 57: entering frameTop
frame.c, line 57: entering frameTop
and xfwm4 is eating up my CPU a few seconds.

The problems started after upgrading my debian box today. I've got a new
libxft2 - maybe it's a problem with it? But with GDK_USE_XFT=0 it
shouldn't be used?

I've also tried to gather some information with gdb (and GDK_USE_XFT=1):
workspaces.c, line 175: entering workspaceSetCount
workspaces.c, line 191: Desktop area computed : (0,0,0,0)
hints.c, line 538: entering init_net_desktop_params
hints.c, line 515: entering set_net_workarea

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x40679af8 in XftCharIndex () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libXft.so.2

After that my keyboard is dead - just clicking around with the mouse is
possible.

Please help,
Michael
