xfce4 (panel) issues

Ok, I see what you mean. Should be easy to change.

Yeah, I know. I have to look into that. I'm not sure what the correct
behaviour would be for xfce if no compliant wm is found.
- don't show the panel until a compliant manager starts
- show the panel and disable desktop switching until compliant wm 
  starts
- don't check for compliance until desktop switcher is used
- don't check for compliance at all and put a note in the documentation.
- ...

What I tried to do is check three time at startup and wait 5 seconds
between attempts. This doesn't seem to work properly.

Of course there are a lot more problems with the panel than the ones you
mentioned. Unfortunately, I have very little time right now, so fixes
for these problems even though they are easy to will be very slow to
arrive.

If there is anyone who wants to help and has some time to spare, please
feel free to work on the code. I won't be a very good maintainer at
least until the end of august.
