I see it as an additional feature which might or might not be necesary.
If an application is actually constructed from integrating two or more
programs (like "evolution"), it would probably be useful, as long as
each application can make the individual calls. For standalone
applications it seems extra baggage to help make the world more
confusing for some of us.
