Screen scaling, which is the best way (or are they all the same)?

Hi,
it's all a bit esoteric, since the “D” in ‘DPI’ stands for “dots,” but
screens have pixels. 4k does not stand for a clearly defined resolution,
not to mention different screen sizes.
Reminds me of something I researched today. If you only need two
connections on a potentiometer to control the volume, what do you do
with the third one and why?
In a book, I came across a “common basic circuit for an electric guitar”
that none of the common guitars have, and I suspect that there are
hardly any non-common electric guitars that are wired this way. Internet
forums recommend soldering the middle contact to the open end, often
with the explanation that the open end could otherwise act like an
antenna, which is complete nonsense from a scientific point of view. In
Horowitz's standard work on electronics (Cambridge University), the
third contact is grounded.
The ineffectiveness of lock washers has been proven, but they are still
sold in hardware stores and also supplied with potentiometers.
Back to the topic: Even with monitors, you can't avoid reading and
trying things out, because you can't rely on what you read.
Regards,
Ralf
