Zaphod mode (dual head) with Xfce 4.16?

URX, this is REALLY BAD news!

Dual-monitor setup with independent workspace switching is
essential for me!

So, it is a problem of Xfce > 4.12 (and not the X-server itself)?

Xubuntu 22.4 comes with Xfce 4.16.
Would a downgrade to 4.12 bring back the independent desktops Zaphod mode?
Is this possible at all and how?
