Correction: Somehow troubleshooting always includes guessing ;).

As part of the elimination process and since a {Fedora,} Xfce very
likely uses lightdm, one should have paid attention to it one way or
another. Nevertheless, the assumption was based solely on the knowledge
that Xfce is in the game and otherwise guessing in the dark.
