window gets no focus

After unsolved problems with the application menu I was trying an
alternative programm starter: 

https://github.com/arnoldrobbins/9menu

It does nearly all I want, but it never gets the focus. I cannot use the
keyboard for controlling, but only use the mouse.

I even tried "xdotool windowfocus ..." without luck.
