* Start the settings GUI of xscreensaver with the command
xscreensaver-demo
* Scroll to "GL Slideshow" in the list of screensavers. In Debian, the
package screensaver-gl is required for this particular plugin
* The "Settings" button brings you to a dialog of options of the
slideshow. There is a slider to choose the time until a new image is
shown.
* enjoy.
(Surprisingly, the place to configure the source of the images is not to
be found in this dialog. Return to the main Window and switch to the tab
"Advanced" for access to this parameter.)
