I guess you can check the MIME-type editor and change the
standard application for "application/gzip" and other related
file endings (Sorry, I am not sure about the english name of the MIME
editor program, translating from Swedish on my system).

See Settings -> Keyboard, the "Program shortcuts" tab, and edit the
shortcut for your Alt+F2 and remove the "--collapsed" alternative, so
you have only "xfce4-appfinder". (This is standard for Alt+F3 though,
so it could be an idea to simply user this shortcut instead, if that is
an alternative).
