Thank you, that's good to know. But nothing I have tried gets Thunar to 
display that first column with DEVICES, PLACES, and NETWORK. I need the 
NETWORK to conveniently access the NAS drive on my router, as it does in 
this computer.

View check Side Pane as suggested earlier in this thread seems to do 
nothing?
