Perhaps a Linux distro issue!
Ubuntu flavour releases for example stay with major release oft software
provided by the official repositories during the Ubuntu flavour
release cycle. Firefox is an exception, it is updated to other major
releases during an Ubuntu flavour release cycle. GTK is very picky
regarding themes, since GTK could become incompatible even with dot
releases of GTK libraries (completely against common sense how to
handle soname dot releases) and original GTK themes, such as Adwaita,
let alone third party themes. Maybe there's a mismatch between the
Adwaita release provided and the release of Firefox provided by your
distro. OTOH your distro should compile Firefox against GTK provided by
the official repositories, but you never know, if that is enough.
Consider to migrate to QupZilla/Falkon. It has got the look and feel of
Firefox, but is based upon Qt.
