Bad display setting -

That is where I am this morning, as a new user startxfce4 produces a
good desktop display but i normally do a lot of configuration to make it
the way I want it to be and now that is a default display. I can go from
there if need be, fortunately it is a second computer I use to try new
releases, etc. Presently it is Fedora 28 [and 29b on another hd] while
this computer runs Fedora 27. I am still trying to get F28 configured to
my satisfaction, and now F29beta is out!

In the version of xfce in this Fedora 27 computer there is a "display"
file that looks like it could be removed to restore things to default
but it is not in the version in the Fedora 28 problem computer. I don't
know the version numbers, or at least where to find them?
