New installation has no ~/.xfce4

An installation of Slackware-14.2/x86_64 on a new desktop includes
Xfce-4.12. I wondered why it was not restoring the applications open when I
logged out despite setting it up to save sessions when logging out.

This morning I discovered there is no .xfce4/ subdirectory in $HOME.

Why might this be and what is the best way to fix it?

I have a separate issue that I'll put in a new thread.

Rich
