Did you start troubleshooting?

What happened when you run Thunderbird in safe-mode?

Are you using any add-ons at all?

Btw. when running 'firefox --safe-mode' it not necessarily is as safe
as using a completely new profile. Since a few years now, the quality of
Mozilla software is heading south. However, running Thunderbird in safe
mode at least is a starting point, much better than all your guessing.

Note, I'm trying to help you with software that has got nothing to do
with Xfce, but I can't run Thunderbird for you in safe mode, you need
to do it and you need to report back what exactly happened. Just
describe what you did, what happened and cut out what you guess.
