Major display problem -

I have had a problem with window sizes for a while and was looking into 
that but now I have  inadvertently screwed up everything!

in Appearances I found an item"Scaling 1x  and Scaling 2x," I clicked on 
2x to see the effect and was unable to restore things no matter what I 
tried.

The way it looks now nothing short of re-installing °fedora 29 will fix 
it and I hate to waste all the configuration I've done.

Any suggestions appreciated,
