command for battery status?

No, I do not want to click through tabs or pull-down menus, I just want to
see the battery status with ONE key-stroke and without mouse interaction.

As it was possible with XFCE 4.8

When I want to know the time I just look at my wrist watch and do not open
my shirt pocket, pull out the pocket watch, open it and look at it. 
Way too much hassle.
