Frequent lockups :(

FWIW, I'm on Fedora with Xfce 4.12 and browsing with Firefox. And 
recently I've had several lockups on certain complex websites (e.g. 
the Guardian newspaper). Firefox is non-responsive and there seems 
to be a huge memory drain. In my case it's not a complete crash -- 
if I can navigate to a terminal and "killall firefox" I can at least 
partly recover, though it seems to leave the system sluggish till 
the next reboot.
