How recover file lost when Thunar crashed during cut-and-paste?

Can anybody advise how to retrieve a file lost when Thunar crashed?

In other words, when Thunar does a cut-and-paste, where does it store the
file?

Thunar crashed while copying a 6Gb file in a cut-and-paste operation. It
left 1Gb of partially-copied file in the destination folder but nothing in
the source folder. It looks like it killed the file.
