LMDE + xfce 4.10: font sizes

Hi,
in the properties menu under appearance I can change the fonts. 
Unfortunately for LMDE + xfce 4.10 this only affects the writing on the 
icons on the desktop. Why?
Under Xubuntu it affects all applications.
