I support Houghi's idea of trying to get all settings into one place,
but all in all I wouldn't vote for making XFCE's defaults more bling
bling, with shadows and transparency. XFCE does pretty well on old
hardware and one reason for that may be the fact that it's default
aren't too demanding on hardware.

A few more appealing wallpapers wouldn't harm though, although I
always revert to the good old striped one, whenever I try out glitzi
ones from the internet :-)
