changing the active window title bar color

IDK about giving them different colors, but if you turn on XFCE's 
compositor (Menu - Settings - Window Manager Tweaks, and it is the last 
tab), you can then configure things so that your inactive app windows 
will be translucent to whichever degree (from transparent to opaque) 
that you specify. You'll probably be able to find a "happy medium," such 
that you'll still be able to see what is being displayed in your 
inactive windows, yet still tell at a glance that they are not the 
active one.
