Hmm. I've updated GTK2 to 2.24.10 already in February. I'm quite sure
everything worked fine until some days ago, and I replaced all <Control>
in shortcuts with <Primary>. No problem there. Also, <Alt>-<Super> works
correctly, so it's only the shift key which is not recognized anymore.
Additionally, even a simple <Shift>-<c> does not work anymore, it's
being transformed into <c> when I try to add a new shortcut.

Thanks for the link to the bug report, but concluding from my
observations I described above, I don't believe this is the same
problem. Anyway, libxfce4ui has already changed a lot so the patch might
not be necessary anymore or would not solve the problem.

At first, I thought it might be related to X, but all other apps work
correctly (e.g. compiz which offers shortcuts for window management).
Therefore, I'm pretty sure it has to be a problem with xfce.

To put it in a nutshell: The shift key is not recognized as a modifier
anymore, only as a single key (aka Shift_L). It could be a problem in
libxfce4ui, but that needs to be proven.
