Instant messenger?

Hi,

what instant messenger application do people use with Xfce?

I am a big fan of Gossip (as it does exactly what I need), but that
doesn't appear to be maintained any more. pidgin doesn't feel
lightweight enough for me. Are there any other alternatives?

So I am kind of thinking of reviving Gossip to at least keep it alive
as a viable option for Xfce. Any other thoughts?
