wmdock behavior

Hi,

I am new to XFCE4, used FVWM for years. Running Debian Testing
I found this on wmdock behavior:

and it gave me the impression that you can display all the wmapps at once. However, I manage only one app at a time and to display another one I have to left click to the left of the wmapp to bring up the wmdock menu. Then I have to select the next app to display.

Is this the way it is supposed to work?
