Can I disable glide pad laptop mouse?

On my Toshiba laptop, Fn+F9 (Fn is next to left Ctrl key) disables the
touchpad device.
You may unload the kernel module (Synaptics I guess) as well.
I don't think that Xfce is the needed software to hack with for a
hardware related problem.
