Xubuntu uses cups too

dpkg -l | grep -i cups | cut -c1-67

http://localhost:631/ works
Starting here I found http://www.cups.org/ppd.php?L818+I20+T+QLexmark
and somehow I have to tell my machine to use this driver.

If this cannot be done with XFCE, then I will search how to do it, but
if it can be done with XFCE simply, I don't want to make it complicated.

Sometimes I hate it to use a German system, since I understand what
"Printing System Selection" means (of course), but I cannot find it in
German at "Einstellungsverwaltung".

Sure? With Suse you have to select the correct printer driver
manually, if the printer is not recognized. BTW I use different
postscript-printers (Samsung and Lexmark) and I like to setup the
default resolution for 150 dpi. The Lexmark E322 is not recognized by
the Opensuse-System, I use E321 or E312 instead.

In a 2nd step, I would like to use these printers on a remote server or
with a wlan-modem (Fritzbox, USB), so I have to find out then, how to
access the printer on the other machine. I think this could be done
with "System - Drucken", but in this case the setup of the printer
server has to be done on the other machine and has nothing to with XFCE.

What I have found in the XFCE-menu is:

Sorry, for the German names, but I don't know the correct menu names in
English:

Einstellungen - Einstellungsverwaltung für XFCE4 - Wechseldatenträger-
und Medieneinstellungen - Drucker: Automatisch ein Programm ausführen,
wenn ein Drucker eingesteckt wird

In short, there is an option, which executes a command, when a printer
is recognized by hal, when it is plugged in.

gnome-printer-add hal://%h

Then there are the menus:

"System - Drucken"
"Zubehör - Druckaufträge verwalten"

But there is nothing which sounds like "Printing System Selection"
