Some improvement, I looked through the libraries manually to check
the symbol, and found a libgio which was installed through a glib
upgrade, and wasn't correctly removed when I went back to 2.26. (the
rest glib _was_ correctly un-installed).

I deleted that version and ldconfig. Now about everything works fine
again (and I'm happily using my normal mail client again). Still, I
have no panel. (-panel is running, but doesn't configure correctly. It
stays only about 100 pixels wide, no contents.

Maybe the libgio caused a problem compiling, I'll redo that and report
back. Though I suspect it shouldn't.

Thanks for the reply.
John
