'7' key causes Volume applet to pop up???

I just installed fedora 11 and xfce4 v4.x.

Every time that I press the '7' key, a small Volume applet dialog pops up
and toggles between Volume Muted and Volume 100% on each press of the '7' key.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to work around it?

Update:  I removed all of the pulseaudio packages.  Now the '7' key
does nothing, but I cannot enter it on the command line.
Maybe not related to xfce??
