User statistics - how much does xfce gain?

Hi,

All three major desktop environments (gnome3, kde4 and unity) seem to have
their problems with quality and robustness.
Are there any statictics available, how much users xfce has gained?

Thanks, Clemens

PS: Any idea why xfce components consume quite a "lot" memory (rss):
panel: 13m
terminal: 10m
Thunar: 10m
xfwm: 9m
xfdesktop: 9m
xfce4-verve-plugin: 8m
orage: 7m
xfce4-mixer-plugin 7m
xfce4-clipman: 6m
xfce4-session: 5m

This very basic xfce session (terminal + filemanager) sums up to 84mb rss.
I wonder what e.g. panel/xfwm or the plugins allocate the memory for.
