session config file?

Dear all,

In which file is the current session saved, and does it allow for manual editing, too?

Using the GUI ‘Session and Startup’ (SaS) I've saved my session but now, SaS is started, too, whenever I log in.  I would like this not to happen (and cannot believe this is supposed to happen) but do not see how to delete SaS from the session.
