F1 and F2 woes - again!

My problem persists! Which is:

I have an console app that needs to use the F1 and F2 keys. This apps
was written assuming a standard VT100 terminal.

I guess the correct question to ask would be, how do I tell Xfce
Terminal Emulator to behave like at VT100? or do I need to run my app
using another terminal to get this behavior? If the latter, which one
is better? TIA..
