I just tried to build parole, but it failed.
sh>/usr/local/build-from-src/parole-0.1.95/autogen.sh && make  (12141)
xdt-autogen: You must have "gtk-doc" installed. You can get if from
             http://www.gtk.org/gtk-doc/.
sh>/usr/local/build-from-src/parole-0.1.95/autogen.sh && make (12141)
returned '1'

Installing gtk-doc-tools (in Debian) pulled in gnome-common. Would
this make parole Gnome-dependent?
