I couldn't agree more.  I would recommend poking around 
http://xwinman.org/ for a more appropriate solution.  I built an internet 
terminal once and it only booted and loaded firefox.  I used Ion 
http://modeemi.fi/~tuomov/ion/ for this purpose.  Worked great.
