Sounds like it worked, but maybe there is "file alteration monitoring"
support missing... Open Thunar and go to the Desktop directory.  If
you don't see it than something blow'd up.  As I'm not a "desktop icon
user" (e.g. I don't have experience with the desktop except right and
middle click), I can suggest you system D: open a terminal, go to the
desktop directory, and run the command "exo-desktop-item-edit --help"
