Newbie

Hi to all.

I am new to Xfce after years of using KDE (bloat city).  So far I love  
the program,
(xfce-4.4.3 on a freebsd system), but I'm having a little trouble 
learning some basics.
Is it possible to create desktop icons to launch programs?  Also, I just 
finished installing
Skype, and while the Skype icon shows up in the menu under network 
(along with
Firefox3 and Thunderbird) I can't launch the program from there.  Th 
only way that I can
launch Skype is from the command line as root.  I'd appreciate a heads 
up on these two issues.
