Alternative sound volume panel plugin?

Is there a simple alternative panel plugin available for 4.6.1 to adjust 
the master volume? The offered mixer depends on gstreamer and I'm having 
issues to compile it on the given system. Also, gstreamer is not used at 
the moment by other applications and ossxmix is suitable for settings, 
what I need is a simple tool for daily use to set volume and mute.

Any advice?
