Still a question: what is the difference between:

* indicating "... Engine=balou" in the file 
/home/<user>/.config/xfce4-session/xfce4-splash.rc

* indicating "... Engine=balou" in the file 
/home/<user>/.config/xfce4-session/xfce4-session.rc
