Same here. Just compiled version 2.6.2 of GIMP and text is movable now. I
guess Svan Neumann hadn't read my complete mail, or didn't register the
fact I did report my version as GIMP 2.4.7.

Anyways, it works now. Sorry for the confusion, and I'll close the bug.

XFCE is the best!
