Add launchers from menu applications

Better would be to use the 'open with application' dialog from thunar as 
a starting point.  Not sure where the code for that is, though... 
probably either in thunar or libexo.  Alternatively, you could probably 
make something pretty easily using libxfce4menu.  Check out 
xfdesktop/modules/menu/desktop-menu.c (from SVN trunk, not 4.4) for an 
example of how to use it.
