Distribution Upgrade Halts Cursor in X

As others have noted, this is distribution specific and should not be
asked here.  However, here are some thoughts.

I suspect you should read the CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT [1] documents,
particularly the part about changes to udev and module-init-tools.
Most likely, you didn't complete the upgrade by moving/merge .new
config files, and thus you have an /etc/modprobe/psmouse and
an /etc/modprobe/psmouse.new file as well.  The old one results in the
psmouse module being blacklisted, so it's not loaded, thus no mouse.
All of this is covered in the C&H document though, along with quite a
few other FAQ's and commonly encountered issues, so please have a look
at it.
