desktop doesn't have different icons for different file types and dbus requirement and taskbar and toolbar at same place?

No, it's just trying to be smart but instead being confusing.  If you 
really only just have hicolor installed, it'll select that one for you. 
  But if you have other options, it won't list hicolor, because, as I 
said, it's not really an icon theme.
