First thing you have to do is not top post.  Top-posting prevents every

Then you get and install xv:

http://www.trilon.com/xv/

and use the options

*-/+roo*t
    Display images on root window.

*-wa*it/ sec/

    Specifies time delay in slide show.


I haven't used xv in years so you're own your own from there.
