No.

KDE will be another choice of environments for you to use.

No.  There is no real default window manager/DE in openSUSE.  The last used 
session, be it KDE, Gnome, Xfce or whatever, will be preselected by whichever 
login manager (guessing KDM, since you're using KDE on openSUSE) you are 
using the next time you log in.

And don't forget, you can always find newer packages than are available from 
the DVD or the oss online repo on the openSUSE Build Service.  Just add the 
following as an installation source in YaST:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/xfce/openSUSE_10.2/
