no jpg support under gentoo

I had to reinstall my Gentoo and for some reason, even when I saved my 
previous USE flags, my XFCE 4.4 does not support jpg images as desktop 
background. I have checked USE flags for xfdesktop and xfwm4, but I cant 
find nothing related to jpg. Can somebody give me an idea?
